In 1993 I had this cartoon published in my college's newspaper. That was a year for some big hair situations. My roommate had the largest collection of big hair bows and ribbons I've ever seen. The funny thing is though, I drew this to make fun of other people, but looking back at my photo from then, MY hair was HUGE! (no bows for me, just huge hair)
I drew this cartoon but they didn't use it. Wrap-around skirts were a big thing. They looked like a rug wrapped around your waist.

Ok those cartoons are so funny. I had forgotten about the big bow thing. My favorite old time hair was the bangs sprayed straight up in the air with a little curl at the top. Priceless.
BTW thanks for stopping by my blog.
Ah, yes. It seems to be a day for nostalgia. I remeber those days well. Stadium rock, big bell Levi's and Vaurnets. Wonder how soon that stuff will come back again?

People like to associate big hair with the 80's, but it actually lasted well into the 90's. I can see hair changing to become more poofy, but have a hard time imagining today's teens wearing tapered jeans. Remember the ones that were so tight they had zippers on the ankles?
Funny drawing about the hair, especially since I just posted about my late 70s do. I can only draw stick figures - you obviously have much, much, more talent.
We must have grown up in the same era! I'm surprised my big hair fit in the yearbook picture. LOL
You are very talented!!!
My daughter loves your drawings, but as I was showing them to her, she also saw your post about Skittles and Rootbeer. The first thing she said was "I'll have to try that".
You've created a monster. :D
Fred, your hair was very groovy.
Jennifer, Ha! That's a good one!
Bryan, don't forget to add those to your grocery list.
Susie, I don't have any on gouchos. I did do a lot of drawings in high school of clothing I thought ought to remain in style forever, including thin leather ties and long trenchcoats.
Those are great!!!
Hilarious!
I used to wear a scarf as a headband to keep my enormous hair in place. My mum even gave me a perm. It wasn't nice. Luckily I have no photos. They would have made sure I never made any new friends..
Lava, thanks for dropping by!
Nerdine, most of us kept in it place with a thick coat of mega-hold hairspray.
Yeah, but that was in the 90's. In the 80's trench coats were for rock stars.
Those are cute. you are quite talented! I always wished i had an artistic side in me. In the sense of drawing. My son always wants me to draw for him, it is like ok, do you want a sunshine, fish or rainbow, again :).
Thanks Kish!
