A Day at the Harriet Carter Spa

Why spend hundeds of dollars at some fancy schmancy spa, when you've got Harriet Carter, "distinctive gifts since 1958."

Start out with a fool-proof Flowbee haircut.

Just in case there's any trimmings Flowbee didn't catch, be sure to wear this haircutting umbrella.

Then pamper yourself with a refreshing leg massage with your very own air massage boots.

Firmalift removes wrinkles... it's just as if someone Photoshoped them off! Amazing!

Suck pimples and blackheads right off your face with this pore cleaner.

For a few extra bucks this creepy mannequin lady will come over and string festive patriotic lights all around your home.

Hey! I tried the firma lift! It's HORRIBLE. So much for staving off the effects of aging. The space alien looking haircut cape seems like a good idea though...

Um, i wish Joe had that Flowbee thing. He got a wild hair and cut all his hair off this week. By himself. It was not good. He left a few patches in the back so I had to do some spot buzzing.

The Flowbee actually works pretty well, once you get the hang of it. But I don't think vacuuming or sweeping up a few hairs is "tedious".
I love the way they write these things.

I remember the Flowbee. I think it was among the first "infomercials." I never thought I'd have much use for one though!

Lemme guess, these are all things you've bought over the last few years?

bar bar a, I was cleaning out my closet and found a couple of these catalogues. These are always so good for a laugh.

momyblogr, :)

saur, darn, $19.98 down the drain.

aunt josefina, reminds me of the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon where Hobbes cuts Calvin's hair... just touch it up with a marker the same color as Joe's hair, it will blend right in.

seeker, I'd imagine it's more tedious to find extra closet space for your hair catching cape than doing a little sweeping.

Mr. Althouse, that Flowbee has been around a while...
Actually the ad on the box looks like they haven't changed it since the 80's.

Leslee, Well, I've never bought any of these particular items, but I did buy something from Harriet Carter once, it was a fold-out thing that goes under the couch cushions to keep it from being so saggy. A piece of wood from Home Depot probably would have done a better job.

Jenn,
We actually DID have a piece of plywood under the cushions of our old couch. hahahahaha.

susiebadoozie, If you go to HarrietCarter.com you can find even more of these lovely high-quality items. I don't know why, but we always get this catalogue in the mail. It makes for some very funny bathroom reading.
