out of the basement, back into the world

Today I did something I've been putting off for a long time. I went into our local coffee shop and gave a couple of greeting card catalogues and card samples to the guy who took my order. I asked him to show them to the owner... maybe she'd be interested.

While I was waiting for my caramel infusion, which was very tasty by the way, the manager came out to talk to me. She was very enthusiastic about buying my cards. She called up the owner. The owner wanted them. And she wants to put up some kind of a bio about me over the cards for sale.

She got on the phone and bought every one of my designs while I was sitting there. (Now I wish I hadn't waited so long! ...I've just never wanted to feel like a salesperson).

This is my newest Christmas card, and it is available for sale at www.allport.com.

Ok young lady - this should tell you something: YOU'RE ART IS GREAT and people want to buy it! So many people would love it if they had the chance to see it. I hate feeling like a salesperson for my own stuff (not that I have anything to sell) but look how well this went! CONGRATS!

Thanks Saur. This dog reminds me of your Bo Bo.

Barbara, you are very encouraging, thanks! It is often hard for me to feel satisfied with my work... I have a hard time looking at it without feeling critical.

How exciting! Was this a chain coffee shop or a local place? I understand your comments about being a salesperson (especially since I am one). The hardest part is taking that first step to speak with total strangers. Congrats!

You are all very encouraging, thanks! :-)

Chuck, it's the same coffee shop where we went with you and Marci the first time you visited.

ok Uncle Joe, you'll have to scope out the area for me.

How are your cards marketed right now?
why don't you email me (seriously)with this info and if I can sell a rack of cards for you that would be cool.....
If not then that would be cool too.
But not as cool as actually helping you sell cards....

Congratulations that is huge. It will be cool for you to go in to get coffee and see someone buying your cards!

ok. We have not talked in way too long! you are going out and conquering the world and i am completely unaware! I am so proud of you! You should see if you can get your hands on the file in the principle's office. I bet there is some great material in there you may have forgotten about.
