some highlights from my day

In the waiting room at the dentist's office this morning I had a chance to do some sketching.
This is the woman I was driving behind on the way there. (I wasn't really honking at her, and I know I can't draw cars).

I am not crazy about this dentist's office. I am ready to change. Every time you go in you get a different dentist or hygenist. Nobody knows you. It's a very drive-through experience. A very young girl put in my filling. How many years does it take to get a dentist degree? She looked and talked like a college student, even though she introduced herself as doctor.

After my face returned to normal, I went out for coffee with George. Ever since Tuesday I have been craving that French Press coffee. At this other coffee shop, I asked if they had French Press coffee and the guy looked at me like I was from outer-space. He had no idea what I was talking about. (No, it was not Starbucks).

So I gave in and bought this for myself at the grocery store.
Susie, I'm sure you can buy one of these in your local grocery store, an isle over from the Asian section, in the international coffee gourmet section.

I got this for $16.99. I just found it's even cheaper on Amazon.com.

MY CHOLESTEROL..what a bummer.
but I can't give it up.

I worked for Barnes and Noble and subed in at the Cafe if it was swamped. One day a guy asked my large chested co-worker if we had french press. She turned beet red. "Excuse me?" He asked again. She looked at him and said quickly, "NO". He looked surprised and walked away. I asked her why she acted that way. She said he said something rude about her chest. I said he asked about French Press. She started laughing and said, "I thought he asked me if we had "French Breasts"

It was me and George, not me and the dentist. I'm changing it now.

Emma aka jennybee, that is very funny. That guy must have walked away afraid to ever ask anyone that question again!

I don't like those clinics, either.. where you get someone different every time. And when the dentist looks like a college kid; I don't know. Maybe it's time to find a new dentist. I've got a great one here in Chicago. Wanna give him a try?
p.s. That coffee is good stuff.

Susie, they probably sell all this stuff in that store where Napoleon Dynamite got his dance moves tape.

Seeker, we've lived here for almost two years, and the dentist thing is something we're still figuring out. There is one more I can check out that our insurance covers... Unless I want a 45 minute drive.

Dentists here train for just as long as medical doctors!

I don't drink coffee so I can't comment on the whole French Press thing. I'll have to ask my friend about it when I see her later as she's obsessed with coffee as she works for Starbucks so maybe she's heard of it lol!

tell us how you like it. I've been thinking of buying one of these to go with my senseo and my restaurant coffee maker.

Michelle, I would think it's the same here for dentists. I've never had one that young before though. I guess you have to start somewhere.

Clare, yeah, I don't know whether Starbucks sells it or not, I haven't checked there yet. But I'm sure your coffee-obsessed friend would know about it.

Uncle Joe, I made a cup today. It was good. I need to buy some fresher coffee though. I used some Starbucks house blend that I've had in my freezer for quite a while. If I had known about this when I had a day job, I would have saved so much money on all the little coffee shop drinks I became addicted to. Coffee is expensive! So much cheaper to make it yourself. The other nice thing about this, is that it is entirely dishwasher safe. And it is a small one, so it's just right for one cup.
