Dock Spoats

More about our trip to St. Martin...

One morning we went to a beach called Dawn Beach. They rent snorkeling equipment there, because there are coral reefs not far from the shore.

The Caribbean-style English that the locals speak there can be pretty hard to understand. At the snorkeling rental place the guy kept telling us to swim out to the dock spoats. We were staring at him trying to process that information while he said it three or four times.

...is there a dock out there? a dock we have to swim to? Then I looked out at the water and said, "Oh! The DARK SPOTS!"

guy: "yes yes yes the dock spoats!, the dock spoats!"

You can see a lot of dock spoats in this photo. There were some stripey fish under there.

We had chairs behind this couple. I think the cloud in the upper left of this photo looks like a chicken.

How gorgeous is that view? So what kind of fish did you see?

It does indeed look like a chicken, right there between the dock spoats of blue

Chicken? Hmm... More like a Dove to me! :P Great to know you have a good time.

Beautifully taken. I like the picture of the couple enjoying themselves on the beach.

Good job!

You could definitely call it a dove also. I think it's cool either way.

Nice photos. I like relaxing at the beach. We don't get to do that very often, since we moved to Chicago...
