Our trip to St. Martin

Yesterday we returned from a great vacation. This year will be our 10th wedding anniversary, so we planned this trip to be more exotic than our regular vacations. I have never had a more relaxing vacation than we just had... it was really really nice.

Here's where we were... St. Martin in the Caribbean. I've circled it in red.

We stayed on the French side at Orient Bay.

Normally I am not a person who likes to spend much time swimming or lying on the beach, mainly because I don't like getting into cold water, and then shivering cold in a towel. But the water here was as warm as the air. This was my first time on a beach with water this clear and clean white sand.

We went parasailing, took windsurfing lessons, snorkeled, rented a Jet Ski, and just relaxed on the beach and played in the waves. I read 196 pages of Memoirs of a Geisha.

We are both ready to be home though. It is nice to be back where everyone speaks English. I need to sort through my photos and then I'll share some stories about this trip.

YAY! I can't wait! I want to go there so badly. I heard about the pink sand, and it looks pinkish in your photo. WAS it? And how is the book?

Hi Saur! I never thought of the sand as pink... I suppose it's sort of a pinkish creamy color. Are you planning to go to St. Martin sometime? Well, page 196 is not even half way through the book, but it's the kind of book I can't put down. It is so well written. I want to write a new post about it when I finish it.

Susie, You must have seen a lot of islands if you were on a cruise... do you recommend any place as your favorite?

Skippy stayed with my parents and their three dogs. They all go to work with my mom every day. He has a good time there.

Oh, that looks wonderful! The only tropical place I've been is the Bahamas, and I agree, it's quite another story to swim in the ocean when the water is nice and warm!

yes, please take susie with you on your next trip. she fits nicely into one of those pet carry suitcases? and will not be much trouble at all, just throw her a lifesaver creamsaver from time to time.

Sarah, hey, the Bahamas sounds great too. Probably not much different.

Uncle Joe, you do have a point. I will let Susie come back here and answer your comment.

Michelle, hey, you look different now! Actually, I am going to endure the rest of this week without my little Skippy. We're going to an overnight conference this weekend, and Skippy's an hour and 45 minutes away, so we decided to wait to get him. At least he's having fun with my parents and the other dogs. But I really miss him. It is very weird not having him at home.

Try a vacation to one of the South Carolina beaches, preferably not Myrtle Beach, and you'll find bathwater temperature seawater. It is delightful. Granted, not as exotic as St Martin's but at least everyone speaks English.
